Independent Learning Center Policies

These policies are subject to change with written notice.

  1. In order to ensure that the program is a good fit for the participants, parents and youth are required to meet with the Director of the Independent Learning Center prior to registering.

  2. ILC staff will meet with each participant, together with their parents, to develop an educational plan, and will review the plan at least monthly with each family.

  3. Voyagers does not require that participants remain on site during the entire time while they are scheduled to attend the ILC. During the planning meeting between each family and the Director, the family will be asked to reach an agreement regarding the participant’s use Off Campus Privileges. Any changes to this agreement must be communicated to the Director in writing.

  4. Voyagers is not responsible for enforcing the agreement between the parent and the child regarding Off Campus Privileges. ILC staff will discuss with any concerns related to Off Campus Privileges with the participant and their parents in a timely manner.

  5. Parents are welcome to drop in at any time during ILC hours.

  6. Voyagers does not provide transportation for participants; however, we are happy to help families make arrangements for transportation coordinate transportation as needed to commute to and from the ILC and other programs the participants may be attending during or around their scheduled hours at the ILC.

  7. Members must indicate which days of the weeks they will attend and notify the Staff of any changes to this schedule.

  8. During the pilot phase of the Independent Learning Center, Fall 2017, interested youth are invited to attend the program for up to 2 weeks before making a commitment to attending the program. Registration is required prior to attending; payment may be made following the initial 2-week period.

  9. ILC Membership fees will be prorated for participants joining after beginning of the term, as described in the Independent Learning Center Fee Structure.

  10. Partial refunds are available through December 4, as described in the Independent Learning Center Fee Structure.

  11. Refunds are do not apply to members leaving the program due to violations of the Independent Learning Center Code of Conduct.

  12. Payment plans are available, as described in the Independent Learning Center Fee Structure.

  13. Need-based fee reductions are available on a limited basis. Please contact the Director for more information.

  14. Participation in one Resource Center Program is included in the cost of a Partial Membership. Participation in two Resource Center Programs is included in the cost of a Full Membership. Members may participate in additional Resource Center Programs by paying the Voyagers Member rate for the Program.

  15. Members attending a Resource Center Program on a day they are not scheduled to attend the Independent Learning Center may arrive no more than 15 minutes before the start of the Program and must leave no more than 15 minutes after the end of the Program.

  16. Registration is required to attend Resource Center Programs, whether included in the cost of Membership or as an add-on. With the permission of the instructor, Members may attend a Resource Center Program for one week prior to registering.

  17. Payments for Resource Center Programs are non-refundable and non-transferable to other Resource Center Programs. This applies to payments made on behalf of Members and included in the cost of a Membership. Some exemptions may apply.
